Particullarly glad I went with the weight gauge and not a dial gauge so I can hear it instead of having to constantly check/babysit it. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By idispatch4911 "Rachel S" (Southern Utah) - See all my reviews This review is from: Mirro 16QT Pressure Cooker (Kitchen) I have looked into buying a pressure canner for a few months and read lots of reviews. I knew that I didn't want to have to watch a dial pressure gauge for over an hour to make sure things were running smoothly. I purchased this pressure canner at a local big box store for about $65. It has simple instructions inside (I hilighted the important parts - 3 quarts of water boiling, steps in order, etc) along with some recipes. I prepped my food, opened up the box, and was setting my timer to start processing within about 20 minutes. I now have some pints of pork put up for use later. I'm very happy with the simplicity of this product! My first experience with pressure canning was great because of this product! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Mirro 16QT Pressure Cooker (Kitchen) There are several features to this pressure cooker that warn/ prevent an explosion from occurring, which was my biggest concern in learning to can with a pressure canner. I've used the canner about 3 times now and feel I am getting a feel for the sound I should be hearing from the jiggler. Some canners have a gauge and jiggler and it would be helpful for me if this one had both, so I could learn what my jiggler was doing at different pressures and be sure I was doing it right. But, all my jars have sealed properly so far, so hopefully I'm doing it right. The manual that came with the canner said it had a chart for cooking times on p. 14, but the chart does not exist in the manual. Overall I have been very pleased with my new canner and pleasantly surprised by how easy it has been to learn to can my own food. |
