The unit does come with an insert, not mentioned anywhere. Though recommended for gas stoves, it seems fine on my glass-top electric. Looks fine, too! 99-cent-a-pound beef ribs succulent in less than one hour. I will be ordering the 5-liter Contura ... only wish I could find a bigger one to match. The Hawkins website lists a 6.5-liter model, but I can't find one for sale anywhere online. I wanted a smaller pressure cooker than American stores generally carry, as it's just the two of us; but I also wanted to be able to cook enough to have a manageable amount of planned leftovers, so I went with the larger of two sizes which Hawkins recommends for 2 people. This fits the bill quite nicely. The anodised aluminium cleans very easily, and looks sharp; the lid lock mechanism is ingenious, and easy to master; and this size is much easier to store than my old pressure cooker was. I love that parts are cheap, and most problems can be fixed yourself. The longer I have it, the more I use it and appreciate it. |
