4.0 out of 5 stars 6 Quart pressure cooker mirror aluminum, February 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Mirro 6-Quart Pressure Cooker, Aluminum (Kitchen)
If you have a glass top I would not buy this model

Amazon says the following in the description
15 lb. pressure control. Removable self sealing gasket. Safety fuse. Heatproof handles with reminder ring. Strong aluminum alloy. Rack and instruction booklet. Not recommended for canning.
It does not have a rack in mine, it does not have a 15 pound control, it is 10 pound by the instructions.
Amazon says nothing about cooking on a glass top, instruction Book says not to use on glass top stoves because the bottom has a concave in the middle that won't allow it to get up to pressure, Well I have a glass top and not wanting to send it back I tried it, came to a boil faster than a old (20 or more years)I own, Put the lid on and it locked fairly quick, maybe 5 minutes? steam started coming out of the top, I waited about 2 minutes and put the weight on, maybe 6 to 8 minutes it was bounceing like it should, so much for not coming up to pressure on a glass top... 4.0 out of 5 stars good pressure cooker, odd that a rack does not come with it, March 9, 2010
This review is from: Mirro 6-Quart Pressure Cooker, Aluminum (Kitchen)
I like the pressure cooker and it cooks the food well. In the owners manual it says to cook foods like potatoes, parsnips, etc. "on the rack", however there is no rack that comes with the pressure cooker. I called Customer Service and was told that I had to buy the rack separately. I asked where I could find one and she referred me to [...]. She said I only needed the rack for canning. I explained that I only had a 6 qt. cooker and would not be canning in it, but that I would probably be cooking potatoes which required a rack. She said the only rack they sell is for the large 22 qt pressure cookers for canning.

[...] only sells the racks for canning, nothing for smaller pressure cookers.

I should have bought a Presto Pressure Cooker which comes with a rack. I can however buy a Presto Pressure Cooker rack and use it in my Mirro/Wearever Pressure Cooker so aside from the frustration of having to do so, that ends my problem with the Mirro Pressure... Read more

It did not come with an owner' manual or a rack. Apparently they don't MAKE a rack for this size cooker (found that out AFTER I bought it).

Sending it back as I type.
